Anatel prohibits indefinitely internet franchise limit
It seems that the public pressure worked, at least for now: Anatel
(National Telecommunications Agency) confirmed that companies deinternet
broadband operators are not allowed to block connections from users who
exceed the limits of monthly data.
"This
method is considered by many of us as a form of protest, in other
words, it's like a lot of people were in the stores phone operators and
preventing foot traffic in them (sic)," explains Anonymous. In
step by step released by Anonymous, are not only the necessary steps to
carry out the attack, as well as tools to be used that can be
downloaded for free. The
suspicion is that it is a DDoS attack, which happens when a person
deliberately or group controls machines "zombies" and forces them to
send requests to a website server. And finally, they were released some of the major network addresses that operators use in Brazil. The news was published in the Anatel site in the late afternoon.
According to the Agency's technical, PIs were screened and the vast
majority of them are of international origin, ie the suspicion is that
some botnet was not hired for this purpose.
"The easiest speech to Anatel would put the internet has to be unlimited." With the decision on Friday, the case was avocadoes by the board of
the Agency, which shall be responsible for analysis and related
decisions.
Until
a deliberation between the directors is made, all operators are
prohibited from in any way limiting the fixed Internet users data
consumption. But then the company could increase prices, reduce speed and it would end up hurting the consumer.
Rao said the fixed Internet as unlimited business model is not finished, as some companies may still adopt this strategy.
On Monday (18/4), the Office of Relations with Consumers had already prohibited in preventive, limiting the fixed internet. Still, the matter turned controversial after Vivo announced in
February that would adopt franchises in new contracts that service.
Anatel will study the issue of franchises in fixed broadband.
